Club Rules

Match Rules
  1. Matches shall be open to all club members.
  2. Entrance fees and pools shall be arranged at the matches. Guests will be a charged a £2 levy and may fish unlimited matches and enter the section pools but not either the match pool or the Golden Peg.
  3. The mode of fishing shall be strictly confined to angling with one rod or pole and every competitor shall bait his / her own hooks and play and land his / her own fish.
  4. Double hooking is not allowed.
  5. All species of fish except trout, sea trout and salmon can be weighed in unless otherwise stated e.g trout fishery matches.
  6. Matches shall be pegged down. Pegs will be numbered and not less than 12m apart where practical. The  draw for pegs will take place before commencement of the match. Each competitor on receiving their peg number shall proceed to the corresponding number. This will be considered their fishing ground and they must fish within 1m of the peg number. Peg limits will be determined as half way between the next angler irrespective of empty pegs.
  7. The commencement of the match will be communicated with a given signal.
  8. Plumbing of the swim is allowed before the start of the match.
  9. No prebaiting, loosefeeding or groundbaiting will be allowed before the match starts. Breaches will result in disqualification. Members can exchange bait during matches.
  10. Casting into another competitors peg is strictly not allowed.
  11. No spinning allowed.
  12. No fly fishing is allowed.
  13. Immediately the signal is given to cease fishing every competitor must do so and any fish hooked before the signal may be landed having informed their neighbour they have a "fish on". The fish must be landed within 15mins of the signal.
  14. Any member fishing contrary to these rules, or annoying another competitor in his/her fishing ground shall be reported to the Committee and may be disqualified from any match and possible future matches taking place.
  15. Any competitor fishing the water on the day of the competition prior to the match will be disqualified.
  16. All baits may be used including bloodworm and joker, however individual fishery bait restrictions will apply were applicable.
  17. No club member pleasure fishing will fish within a distance of 3 pegs from any competitor during club matches.
  18. All fish must be weighed to secure points in a match.
  19. If only one angler catches in a match then he/she shall take all pools monies.
  20. No member is to bank walk the match water prior to the competition on match day and no member shall fish a match water on the day prior to the competition, other than a bona fide open.
  21. Any person registering their intention to fish a match and then failing to turn up without informing the Match Secretary, at the latest the night before, shall be liable to pay the peg fee unless a good reason is given.
  22. The match pools and Golden Peg will be limited to members only and is awarded based on the top members weights excluding guests.
  23. The Golden Peg will be limited to £100 however multiple Golden Pegs will run concurrently as required.
  24. Two keepnets are required at all Club matches and unless fishery rules stipulate otherwise a separate carp / silver net rule will be in force.
  25. Weighing in will be completed by the 3 competitors drawing the first 3 pegs, (weigh net/scales/recording) - OAP / Disabled excluded. Competitors should swim fish to the top of the net or use pull through rings. Fish should not be tumbled down nets for weighing.  
  26. When club matches are to be on split venues i.e. 2 or more lakes, the pools will be split pro rata paying winner and appropriate places on each pool.
Club Rules
  1. The club shall be known as the Wirral Borough Angling Club (WBAC)
  2. The club shall be under the management of the elected Committee who will serve for a period of one year from the date of election. The Committee shall consist of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Match Secretary. Committee members may serve on other committees as long as there is no detriment or conflict of interest with WBAC.
  3. The Committee will organise angling trips within the Club, contests with angling clubs, social events and foster good relations between the angling community.
  4. The Club shall hold a meeting open to all members of the Club each quarter and a Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year. The Committee may meet at anytime with regard to matters affecting the Club.
  5. Membership of the Club shall be determined at each AGM, acceptance of members by the Committee shall at all times be final.
  6. Closed season and River Authority rules regarding the taking of fish shall be observed and members failing to observe these rules will be dealt with by the Committee and may be expelled from the Club.
  7. The rules may only be amended at an AGM and suggested amendments shall be made in writing to the Committee one month prior to the AGM or at the meeting prior to the AGM. If the Committee are of the opinion that a rule should be amended during the course of the Club year, the Committee shall hold a meeting and make a temporary amendment that may be adopted immediately and confirmed at the next AGM.
  8. The Chairman shall have the casting vote.
